MECHANIC FALLS — Regional School Unit 16 Adult Education has announced classes for the winter-spring semester.
Knitters’ Night Out: Patricia Demers leads weekly sessions for those who would like to learn more about knitting or want help with a project. Bring a project to work on. From 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays through June 9. Cost is $5 per month. Walk-ins welcome. No preregistration.
Healthcare Options: Lucy Beirne, outreach and education specialist, will tell how to enroll in a health plan, what assistance is available, what the terms mean and how to use the insurance you get. From 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20. No cost, preregistration required.
Budgeting Basics: Christina Davis, workforce development specialist from New Ventures Maine, will discuss tracking money, setting goals, facing challenges and reducing expenses. From 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26. No cost, preregistration required.
Rockin’ Boxin’: April Gura will lead classes using 1-pound weights and music for a series of drills. Gura has taught cardio classes for the past 20 years and is part of the Power & Peace Studio team. From 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays, Feb. 1 through March 14. No class on Feb. 15. Cost is $30.
College Transitions: A free 14-week program to prepare for, get accepted to, and be successful in college. It will provide a comprehensive review of reading, writing and math in a college-style setting through face-to-face and online interaction. The application process, financial aid issues and challenges unique to specific situations will also be addressed. From 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Feb. 1 through May 16. Call 207-345-3217 to sign up.
