HARRISON — Slick roads and mechanical problems caused a Harrison firetruck to roll over on Route 35 on Sunday afternoon.
Engine 4, Harrison’s first response engine, was returning from investigating a carbon monoxide detector on Harrison Heights Road when it apparently lost its brakes. The operator of the truck was unable to break going down a hill, and after trying to stop, the vehicle rolled over onto its side, according to a news release from Town Manager George “Bud” Finch.
The driver suffered scratches and was treated and released at the scene, the release said.
The firetruck received major damage.
Police and fire personnel will investigate the accident, as is standard protocol, but the cause is believed to have been a combination of weather and mechanical failure, according to the release.
