ANSWER: As dog licensing season nears, many communities host clinics, however, most of those are in December or early January so people can participate before licenses are due. If you’re willing to travel just a bit, then clinics are available through the Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick each month. They are available for anyone, regardless of where you live, and include low cost rabies vaccinations, micro-chipping, ear cleaning and toe nail clipping.

Their next clinic will take place on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon at their administrative office located at 190 Pleasant Street, Brunswick. Please bring your pet’s most recent rabies vaccination certificate. More information and their event calendar is available on their website: www.coastalhumanesociety.org.

Maybe a reader knows of a more local clinic and will share the information with us.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The next monument (#28) at the Veterans Memorial Park will be unveiled next Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday at 10 a.m. This monument is almost filled as far as names to be inscribed. We are taking names to fill the last column on the B side of the stone. So if anyone has a friend or relative that you feel should be on our next monument, please send in your applications ASAP. Time is running out. Then the next monument will only be in 2017, next year. Now is the time to send in the applications. The instructions are on the applications, and it is self-explanatory.

This is a great gift to honor your relative of friend who served our country. We have almost 5,800 names already on our 27 monuments. Memorial Day is fast approaching and we have to have the names a few weeks before Memorial Day to give Colette Monuments time to engrave the stone.

The only prerequisite is that the veteran has a copy of his or her DD214 or Honorable Discharge. Any veteran, living or dead, active duty or retired. They can be of any branch of the services —   Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, National Guard, Reserves, Merchant Marine.

So, if anyone wishes to receive an application or knows someone who would like to have one, feel free to call or email me at any time. If you have a computer I can send you an application via a .pdf file and you can print your own application. Or if you do not have a computer I can mail you one by regular mail. — Normand M.
