1924 – 2016
PORTLAND — Russell B. Plummer Jr., 91, of Lisbon Falls, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 21, at Maine Medical Center in Portland following a brief illness.
He was born in Brunswick on Feb. 26, 1924, a son of the late Russell and Drusilla (Goodwin) Plummer Sr. He grew up in the area and attended Brunswick and Rockwood schools. He was a graduate of Lisbon High School, Class of 1942.
After high school, Russell joined the U.S. Navy and served his country until his discharge in 1963. After his time with the Navy, he worked as a truck driver for Blue Rock, as well as at the Worumbo Mill. He also worked for several years at Maine Electronics.
Russell was a member of the American Legion Post No. 158 in Lisbon, as well as a life member of the Slovak Catholic Association. He also attended West Bowdoin Baptist Church.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Edith V. Roberge of Lisbon Falls; his siblings, Constance Holvey of Ohio, Claudia Plummer of Texas and David Plummer and his wife, Janice, of Lisbon; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Corinne Gaynor, Keith Plummer and Thomas Plummer.
