1918 – 2016

AUBURN — Rita M. Beaulieu, 97, formerly of Cumberland Street in Rumford, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, at Clover Health Care in Auburn.

She was born in Rumford on Aug. 11, 1918, a daughter of Oscar and Emilienne (Castonguay) Ouellette. Rita was educated in Rumford schools and attended Stephens High School.

She was employed as a school crossing guard for 18 years for the town of Rumford. Rita was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior. She was a member of the Snowshoe Club and served as a den mother for Pack 531 for 10 years.

Rita was an avid Boston Red Sox and Bruins fan and she loved Christmas shopping.

Surviving are her two sons, Edward C. Beaulieu and wife, Colette, of Atlantic Highlands, N.J., and John J. Beaulieu and wife, Anne, of Lewiston; four grandchildren, Daniel Beaulieu and wife, Karen, of Limerick, Diana Bond and husband, Matthew, of Ohio, Ryan Beaulieu of Lewiston and Hannah Beaulieu of Connecticut; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; two sons, David and Dennis; two sisters, Theresa Stevens and Mary Ann Nadeau; and a brother, Edmond Ouellette.
