OXFORD — The cast of Merely Players Community Theatre of Oxford Hills Christian Academy will present “Little Old Ladies in Tennis Shoes,” a comedy by Sandra Fenichel Asher, at Hosanna New Testament Church on Schoolhouse Road.

Show times are 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, and 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13. Doors open 30 minutes before the show.

The play reminds audiences that life is precious regardless of age, and that as long people are breathing, they have a life that is worth living wildly and passionately.

In the production, Kate Corrigan has her life in order, or so she likes to think. She has a lucrative job, a no-strings-attached man, and a new house in the suburbs. She blithely tells her new neighbors, “consider yourselves part of the clutter,” and delightful “clutter” they soon become.

Kate’s tiny existence is overwhelmed by their roller-coaster friendship as she is deluged with pot roasts and the problems of all of the ladies in the neighborhood. “Am I a little old lady in training?” Kate asks herself. Confronted with old fears and new choices, Kate find herself opening up enough to admit love for the first time.

Audiences of all ages respond to the warmth and wisdom in this comedy about friendship between generations, about growing “older, wiser, stronger in every way, but not old.”

Seating is general admission. Tickets cost $4 for students and $8 for adults. They are available at the door. Seniors 65 and older will be admitted free. Those accompanying a senior will be given a 50 percent discount on one adult ticket for each senior.
