FARMINGTON — Alex Milano sparked a 21-14 run in the fourth quarter that sent Pine Tree Academy to a 56-50 victory over Rangeley in EWC boys’ basketball action Thursday.

Milano finshed with 16 points for Pine Tree (11-6), including 12 in that key final frame. JP Tashamala chipped in with 13 points, while Jalen Tamalea added 10.

The Lakers (5-11) were paced by Kyle LaRochelle with a game-high 20 points, while Ricky Thompson tallied 18 and Carl Trafton added eight.  

Lawrence 60, Edward Little, 55

LAWRENCE — Derek Cooper keyed a furious second-half comeback for Lawrence Thursday night, draining four 3-pointers in the third quarter to lead the Bulldogs to a 60-55 win over visiting Edward Little in a KVAC showdown.

TJ Robinson added 14 for the Bulldogs (9-7), and Jeff Powers chipped in 10 in the victory.

Jarod Norcross-Plourde paced the Red Eddies (9-7) with 19 points. Samatar Iman added 14, Austin Cox 10 and CJ Jipson knocked down a pair of 3s and finished with eight points.

EL held an 11-point lead at halftime. The Bulldogs whittled that lead to five after three, and exploded for 22 points in the fourth to pull away. 

Lisbon 62, Mt. Abram 50

SALEM — After sprinting out to a 15-point advantage in the first frame, Lisbon gently eased off the gas and cruised to a 62-50 victory over Mt. Abram in more late-season boys’ hoops action Thursday. 

Jonah Sautter led the fast-paced Greyhounds (8-8) with 17 points, while Tyrese Joseph chipped in with 15. 

Dan Luce led the Roadrunners (3-13) with a respectable 14-point effort, while Luke Romanoski tallied 13 and Trevor Chaput added 10.

Mt. Ararat 61, Lewiston 46

LEWISTON — Mt. Ararat used a 22-10 run in the second frame to take command and hustled to post a 61-46 win over Lewiston in KVAC boys’ action Thursday.

Shyheim Ulrickson led the Eagles (11-5) with 27 points, while Cam Cox tallied 12 and Alex Lafountain added 11. 

The Blue Devils were led by Sahad Hassan with 14 points, while Abdinasir Issack chipped in with 10. 

Oak Hill 50, Mountain Valley 43

WALES — Dalton Therrien scored a game-high 15 points and Marcus Bailey added 12 to lift host Oak Hill past Mountain Valley in a Class B South boys’ basketball game Thursday night.

The Raiders (5-11) led by one after one quarter, then added to their lead after each period. The Falcons (3-12) exploded for 18 points in the fourth quarter, but Oak Hill matched that total to hold on for the win.

Ryley Flynn made four 3-pointers to score a team-leading 16 points for the Falcons. Curtis Steele added nine.

Wiscasset 76, St. Dom’s 24

WISCASSET — Host Wiscasset jumped out to a 22-point lead after one quarter and never looked back, rolling past St. Dom’s 76-24 in a MVC boys’ basketball game Thursday night.

Zach Reed and Brandon Sprague led five players in double figures with 18 points each for the Wolverines (12-4). Cody Roberts added 12, Ethan James had 11 and Kevin Lynch 10.

Jake Bussiere scored a team-high 14 points, including four 3-pointers, for the Saints (0-16).

Dirigo 79, Telstar 45

BETHEL — Riley Robinson broke open a close game in the third quarter with a run of four 3-pointers and 16 total points to lead Dirigo to a 79-45 win over Telstar in MVC basketball action Thursday.

Robinson finished the game with 31 points, Gavin Hebert added 15 and Clay Swett chipped in with 12 for the Cougars (15-1).

Tanner Wheeler led the homestanding Rebels with 19 points in the loss.

Brunswick 82, Leavitt 36

TURNER — Caleb Cost scored 29 points for Brunswick, including 11-for-11 from the free-throw line, to lead Brunswick past Leavitt, 82-36, in a Class A boys’ basketball clash on Thursday night.

Max Green led Leavitt (2-14) with 18 points. The Dragons erupted for 24 in the third quarter to pull away.

Girls’ basketball

Rangeley 44, Pine Tree Academy 23

FARMINGTON — Despite a lower overall score than most of their recent games, Rangeley still had three players in double figures as they hustled to a 44-23 romp over Pine Tree Academy in a girls’ basketball tilt. 

Blayke Morin and Sydney Royce led the nearly-unstoppable Lakers (15-1) with 12 points each, whileeighth-grader Ameila McMillan chipped in with 10. 

Alexandra Goodman led Pine Tree (9-8) with a much lower than usual six-point effort, while Adrianna dePalma chipped in with five.

Dirigo 56, Telstar 37

BETHEL — Despite a late-game, 20-point rally by Telstar, Dirigo managed to easily hang on to post a 56-37 late-season victory over Telstar in MVC girls’ action Thursday.

Emma Lueders and Lauren Henderson led the Cougars (12-4) with 15 points each, while Brittany Grieg added nine.

The winless Rebels (0-16) were paced by veteran Becca Howard with a game-high 18 points, while Haley Peterson chipped in with 13.   

St. Dom’s 52, Wiscasset 25

WISCASSET — St. Dom’s quickly jumped out to a 15-point lead in the first frame and raced away to post a 52-25 rout over Wiscasset in a late-season girls’ tilt Thursday.

Chloe Dwinell led the Saints (8-8) with 17 points, while Caroline Gastonguay chipped in with 11. 

Lawrence 47, Edward Little 45

AUBURN — Lawrence saw its undefeated record come close to falling early and then late against Edward Little, but the visiting Bulldogs held on for a 47-45 victory in a KVAC girls’ basketball clash Thursday night.

Nia Irving scored a game-high 27 points for Lawrence (15-0), which trailed by five after one quarter before taking a halftime lead. Dominique Lewis made three 3s to account for all nine of her points, and Molly Folsom added eight.

The Red Eddies (13-3) rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 12-6, but fell one basket short at the end. Emily Jacques led EL with 15 points. Piper Norcross and Karli Stubbs pitched in with 11 and 10, respectively. 

Lewiston 50, Mt. Ararat 45

TOPSHAM — Morgan Eliasen led a trio of players in double figures Thursday as Lewiston hustled to a 50-45 late-season win over Mt. Ararat.

Eliasen led the Blue Devils (8-8) with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Victoria Harris chipped in with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Kristina Blais also contributed with 11 points in a well-balanced attack.

The Eagles (1-15) were led by Lauren Sturgess with 18 points, while Nikki Bradstreet chipped in with 11. 

Leavitt 56, Brunswick 50, OT

Chantel Eells scored three of her game-high 18 points in overtime to help lift Leavitt to a 56-50 win over Brunswick on Tuesday.

Eells also hauled in 16 rebounds to lead all players.

With the Hornets (8-8) trailing by three with time winding down in the fourth quarter, sophomore guard Liz Goulette hit a 3-pointer with 4.3 seconds left to tie the score at 46 and send the game into overtime.

Adrianna White of Brunswick (10-6) matched Eells with 18 points to lead her team in scoring.
