TURNER — The new year will a new opportunity to learn at SAD 52 Adult Education, with many classes from which to choose.

Learn to Knit: Starts Feb 22. Learn the basics in the four-week class to complete a project to take home.

Conversational Spanish: Starts Feb 22. Master the basics with a focus on everyday conversation, pronunciation and useful vocabulary.

Archery Hunter: Feb. 22 and March 3. The mandatory course provides knowledge regarding equipment, proper hunting methods, responsibilities and general safety. Some outdoor exercises will be featured. Students must be age 10 to attend and, if under 16, must be accompanied by an adult. Class consists of classroom instruction and home study. Passing a final exam is required.

Senior Basic Computer Class: Feb. 23 through March 15. Find out about mouse skills, navigating files and folders, launching programs, creating, opening and saving files, word processing and spreadsheets, going online, emailing, searching the Internet and whatever else might be needed.

Zumba® Fitness for YOU: Feb. 23 to March 31. There will be a mix of Latin and other rhythms and elements of cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility. Toning will be added into the mix on Thursday evenings to help build strength and tone target areas. All fitness levels are welcome, the moves are modified to meet need.

Poker: Texas Hold ‘Em, the Home Game: Feb. 23 to March 15. Discover the rules, lingo and strategy of the game. Run tournaments with friends. Class will start with a lesson and break into a mini-poker game for practice.

Rumba for Beginners: Feb. 23 to March 29. The Rumba is a slow Latin dance that originated in Cuba. Learn the basic steps in this beginner class. Singles and couples are welcome.

Crochet Wire Jewelry: Feb. 24. Use crochet stitches in a new way. Construct a necklace or bracelet by crocheting with wire and adding high quality glass beads. No prior experience is necessary.

Kids Painting, Drawing and Collage: Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 24. Children from ages 7 to 10 can learn playful techniques introducing the basics of expressionist painting. Explore color, composition, painting and collage using the masters as a starting point for learning. Something new will be introduced each week. Includes all materials.

Welding: Begins Feb. 25. Master the techniques of welding in a class that will address individual needs. Beginning and advanced students can prepare for state certification. The class may be taken for credit. Students need steel-toed shoes and safety glasses.

Pottery Fun: Starts Feb. 25. Explore the foundational skills of throwing on the pottery wheel. The course will cover throwing functional ceramics, hand-building and glaze application. A good choice for beginners with no experience, as well as those with previous wheel work who would like to refine their pottery wheel skills.

Clear and Compassionate Communication Level 1: Begins Feb. 25. Practice the basic skills of non-violent communication with group activities and personal journaling. Understand the basic human needs, the difference between thoughts and feelings, a new way to listen (to yourself and others) and a new understanding of empathy.
