LEWISTON — Oasis of Music, a free recital held Wednesdays at Trinity Church in Lewiston, from 12:30-1, is proud to announce the line-up for February.
John Smedley, jazz guitarist/Bates physics professor plays original and standard tunes Wednesday, Feb. 3, accompanied by string bassist Tim Clough.
On Feb. 10, violinist, Aaron Pettingill will present a selection of classical pieces. Pettingill, a recent graduate of the USM music program, currently teaches strings in the Lewiston Public Schools, and plays for the Bangor Symphony as well as many freelance orchestral gigs in our area.
The beautiful sound of the oboe and English horn played by Billie Jo Brito will be on hand Feb. 17. Brito, who received her training at the Julliard School of Music, plays with the Midcoast Symphony and the Bangor Symphony, and teaches Career Aspirations at Lewiston Middle School.
John Cote will bring his very personal style of acoustic guitar Feb. 24. He performed and recorded extensively with Perpetual Emotion, from Burning Man in the southwest to Celtic Colors in the northeast and all points in between. Cote performs traditional and original works, giving a jazzy touch to Celtic and Franco-American genres of music.
