APL to celebrate Chinese New Year
AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library will celebrate the Chinese New Year from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, in the Androscoggin Community Room.
Lily Huang from Wei-Li Restaurant will be present for the special event. 2016 is the year of the Monkey. Huang will tell how the New Year is celebrated in China and by Chinese families in this country with stories and crafts.
The program is free, and all are welcome.
Danville Grange to meet
AUBURN — Members of Danville Junction Grange 65 will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at the hall.
The program will be presented by the Agriculture Committee.
Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting. Members are reminded to bring clipped coupons for troops.
In case of a storm, the meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 25.
Pine Cone Chapter to meet
AUBURN — Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St.
The chapter will honor Eleanor Peterson, district deputy grand matron for District 4. The meeting will be preceded by a potluck supper at 6 p.m.
All Eastern Star members are welcome.
Sampson Air Force Squadron vets to meet
LEWISTON — The February get-together of the Southern Maine Squadron of Sampson Air Force Veterans will meet at noon Thursday, Feb. 11, at Govenor’s Restaurant, 1185 Lisbon St.
The group is for veterans who went to Sampson Air Force Base for basic training from 1951-56. Vets and guests are welcome to attend from the Korean era.
Members will discuss future meeting events for the coming months.
A remembrance will be held for the loss of Gordon Kimball, who died Jan. 27. at He was a founding member who helped form the Sampson Squadron.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners on Feb. 1 were, first, Anna Vitiello and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, Nancy Lindgren and Les Buzzell; and third, Henry Lerette and Paul Mitnik.
Winners on Feb. 2 were, first, Jeanine Kivus and Claire Lyons; and second/third tie, Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier with David Lock and Mike True.
Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is guaranteed and all bridge players are welcome.

Dutil announces two trips
LEWISTON — Bert Dutil has announced that he will no longer do four- or five-day trips a year, but will do two trips a year.
One will be on Saturday, April 2, to Lecomte Sugar House (Cabane a sucre) and some shopping, in Lac Megantic, Canada, sponsored by the Franco American Heritage Center in Lewiston.
A passport is needed to cross the border into Canada.
The next trip will be to Danvers Yacht Club in Danvers, Mass., the Ultimate Tribute to Elton John and Billy Joel, and a meal of either chicken or fish.
