AUBURN — Tyler Lafean and Max Nyholm, members of the Class of 2015 at Edward Little High School, each received a $500 Auburn Ski Association Scholarship at Lost Valley recently.

Lafean is a chemical engineering major at the University of New Haven in Connecticut. An avid alpine skier, he was captain of the alpine ski team at Edward Little High School in 2015 after a successful first three years as a valuable contributing member.

Nyholm is a neuroscience major at the University of Vermont. He was a captain of the Nordic ski team and cross country running team at Edward Little High School for two years. He was introduced to Nordic skiing during his junior year and instantly fell in love with it.

The annual scholarships are announced at the June graduation and awarded after recipients successfully complete their first semester of college.

The Auburn Ski Association provides financial support for alpine and Nordic race programs at Edward Little High School and Auburn Middle School, as well as organizations such as the Lost Valley Racing Club, Central Maine Adaptive Sports and the Merrick Chadbourne after-school Learn to Ski program at Lost Valley.
