AUBURN — This year more than 70 Girl Scout troops and other community groups across the state have made over 3,000 homemade Valentine’s Day cards for hospice patients and long-term care residences.

Beacon hospice staff and volunteers will deliver the Valentine’s cards this week, with four special Beacon Hospice’s Hearts for Hospice Challenge events planned in Bangor, Augusta, Auburn and Portland, where Girl Scout troops and community groups signed up for a drawing to deliver the Valentine’s Day cards themselves.

Augusta: Girl Scout Troop 518 of Hallowell, Girl Scout Troop 2266 of Augusta, and Juliette Girl Scout Troop of Readfield will visit Augusta Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Augusta on Friday, Feb. 12. FMI: 207-621-1212.

Auburn: Brownie Troop of Hartford, Sumner and Buckfield will deliver to Pinnacle (formerly Victoria Villa) in Canton at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10; and Daisy Troop 30 of Mechanic Falls will deliver to Clover Healthcare in Auburn at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11. FMI:  207-784-4242.
