1949 – 2016

RUMFORD — Ronald “Ronnie” Osgood White, 67, lifetime resident of Carthage, died Saturday, Feb. 6, at Rumford Hospital, from a short battle with pneumonia.

Ronnie was born Jan. 4, 1949, in Rumford, to Elijah White Sr. and Helen Worster White. He was the fifth of seven children.

While he never officially attended school, he learned from everything he experienced. He loved to read the newspaper, do word search puzzles, and keep up with racing, baseball and football stats. He loved everyone from the seniors in Carthage, to his young nieces and nephews.

Ronnie was in the Special Olympics and earned many gold medals for swimming and running. He was a longtime member of the Snowmobile Club, an honorary member of the Carthage Volunteer Fire Department, and a loyal member of the Carthage Historical Society for most of his adult life.

Ronnie is survived by Wayne and Emma White of Carthage; Gloria and Ronald Ellis of Carthage; Meredith and Randall Robbins of Dixfield; and Doreen and Dean Smith of McDonald, Tenn. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, who loved him dearly.

Ronnie was the epitome of unconditional love. His heart was made of gold. He was always happy to see you, greeting you with a hug. Our wish for everyone who knew him is that the example of his life will inspire you to continue to share this love with others.
