JAY — A New Portland man remained at the Franklin County jail Friday evening on charges of spitting blood on an officer and resisting arrest.
Todd P. Sullivan, 23, formerly of Jay, was arrested Thursday outside a residence he was barred from, Detective Michael Mejia said.
Sullivan, who was bloodied, was walking on the street when Sgt. Russell Adams and Mejia arrived at the residence where someone had punched Sullivan, Mejia said.
Sullivan spit on Adams while the officers forcibly arrested him, continued to be aggressive in the police cruiser and fought with corrections officers at the jail, Mejia said.
Police arrested him on a charge of felony assault on an officer and misdemeanor charges of refusing to submit to arrest and obstructing government administration, Mejia said. Sullivan is on probation for a 2015 conviction of sexual abuse of a minor in Jay and is on a probation hold at the Farmington jail.
