NORWAY — The fourth annual Children’s Theater Workshop will perform “The Emperor’s New Clothes” at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Second Congregational Church, 205 Main St.

Since early October, a dedicated cast of 10 students has been participating in the free weekly musical theatre workshop. They range in age from 8 to 13 and come from four surrounding towns. Their first appearance was in the Second Congregational Church’s Christmastide production in December. In January, they continued their weekly workshops. They have rehearsed songs, learned choreography and memorized lines. They have painted sets, amassed props and created costumes.

When asked by community members if the show will be ready, Director Shirli Allen says “At this age, it’s not all about being ready. It will be wonderful, silly and whimsical. You will smile. It may not go exactly according to the script, but it will be their show. A workshop experience is more about the process than a perfect production.”

Doors open at 1:30 p.m. The production is assisted by Kate Wood, Jean Saunders and Sharon Hollowell. Ed Baldridge accompanies the troop on piano.

A light reception will follow the production and donation baskets will be available to those who wish to support the Children’s Theater Workshop.
