SEDGWICK — Maine state police say alcohol was a factor in an early morning crash that sent three people to the hospital — two of them by Lifeflight.

Authorities say the car driven by 21-year-old Olivia Perkins, of Penobscot, lost control while traveling from Route 15 to Route 176 in Sedgwick and stuck a flatbed trailer parked in a driveway before vaulting into a tree.

Perkins was trapped in the driver’s seat and had to be extricated. Two passengers — 22-year-old Torey Slaven, of Surry, and 30-year-old Philip Graceffa, of Brooksville — were thrown from the Jeep Wrangler.

Police say the crash happened just before 1 a.m. Sunday.

The investigation is ongoing.
