Legion hosting St. Patrick’s dinner

AUBURN — The William J. Rogers, Post No. 153, American Legion, will host its annual St. Patrick’s Day corned beef and cabbage public supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 18, at 71 South Main St.

Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 10 and younger. Menu includes corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, bread/rolls, desserts and coffee. Other beverages can be purchased at the canteen.

Proceeds from public suppers help fund programs such as Boy’s State, American Legion baseball, oratorical contests around the state and scholarships. They also provide funding to assist veterans in the community and to provide advocacy in the Legislature for issues involving veteran’s benefits.

War Memorials Art Exhibit

MONMOUTH — Monmouth Academy students in Jocelyn Gray’s Global and U.S. Studies classes will present a War Memorials Art Exhibit from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, at the Monmouth Academy cafeteria.

Students have been studying global and U.S. wars and have researched a specific event or battle within a specific war. In turn they have developed and created a memorial piece to honor that event or sacrifice.

The public is invited. The event is free, donations will be accepted toward the Wounded Warrior Fund.
