RUMFORD — The third annual Concert to Benefit Camp Sunshine is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Rumford Falls Auditorium on Congress Street, said Andy St. Pierre of Peru.

St. Pierre came up with the idea for the benefit concert after participating in events with NAPA Auto Parts to raise money for the camp, including one in Greenville that brought in more than $36,000.

Camp Sunshine on Sebago Lake “provides respite, support, joy and hope to children with life-threatening illnesses and their immediate families through various stages of a child’s illness,” according to its website.

St. Pierre said it costs about $2,000 to send one family to the camp.

He said folk songs and acoustic music will be performed by himself, Annette St. Pierre, and Jenna Guest throughout the concert, with songs by James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, John Denver and others likely to be performed.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at NAPA Auto Parts in Mexico for $8 each, or $10 at the door on the evening of the concert.

St. Pierre added that children under the age of 12 can get in to the concert for $5 in advance, or $7 at the door.

A twin-sized bed quilt will be raffled, St. Pierre said.

“It was handmade by Annette St. Pierre,” St. Pierre said. Raffle tickets for the quilt can be purchased for $2, which will get you two chances, or $5 for three chances. “We’ll draw tickets on the night of the concert,” he said, “but you don’t have to be present to win.”
