LEWISTON — Lewiston firefighters responded quickly to put out a fully engulfed car fire Saturday afternoon at the Elizabeth Ann gas station on the corner of Sabattus Street and East Avenue.
The car was about 30 feet from the nearest gas pump, near the curb along the Sabattus Street side of the parking lot, across the street from Rite Aid.
Clerks at the store said the vehicle did not belong to a store customer. One of the clerks heard that the transmission had overheated.
