COBURN GORE — A Canadian tractor-trailer spilled its load of logs on icy Route 27 on Tuesday morning, Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said.
Eric Dubois, 31, of Saint-Augustin-de-Woburn, Quebec, was driving south when the accident happened about 6:10 a.m., Nichols said.
Dubois lost control on a corner and the rig skidded off the road, Nichols said. The driver overcorrected and the truck rolled onto the driver’s side, spilling the logs on the road and into a ditch.
Lead investigator Cpl. Kevin Hartley and Chief Deputy Steve Lowell responded to the scene a few miles south of the port of entry from Canada.
Dubois was examined at the scene by NorthStar EMS ambulance personnel, Nichols said.
Maine State Police Trooper Keith Barton and Eustis Fire Rescue Department also responded to the site. The Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit was called in.
Dubois was driving the 2016 Western Star for Michel Carrier of Saint-Augustin-de-Woburn, Quebec.
