LEWISTON — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Carmen’s life was celebrated by the Rev. Robert Larivier on Wednesday, March 30, in the lower Chapel of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul of the Prince of Peace Parish.

At the beginning of Mass, Carmen’s family draped their mother’s casket, signifying Carmen’s baptism into a new spiritual life with God. Scripture readings were proclaimed by Carmen’s foster daughter, Anna Rose Gosselin, and her grandson, Marc Veilleux. The Prayer of the Faithful was recited by Tracy Ridley. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Dot Lauze and Cole Ridley. Words of Remembrance were shared by Carmen’s son-in-law, Robert Mailhot, as well as granddaughters Bonnie Veilleux and Darlene Whitley.

Following Mass, the funeral procession proceeded to Elliott Avenue, where the funeral cortege paused in front of the Marcoux family residence in honor of Carmen.

Upon arrival at St. Peter’s Cemetery Chapel, the Rev. Larivier recited committal prayers to conclude services after which all in attendance were invited to a reception of fellowship at Marco’s Restaurant in Lewiston.

The pallbearers were Evan Parquette, Marc Veilleux, Gina Benda, Jeff Woodrum, and Michael Aripez and honorary bearer was great-grandson Aaron Whitley.
