This is in response to Roland Rancourt Jr.’s letter (March 25).

Rancourt mentioned a speech given by Joe Biden in June of 1992 about not confirming a nominee for the Supreme Court — I don’t believe Biden’s speech was made into law. So much for hypocrisy.

It appears to me that the Republicans are just doing business as usual. That is, in opposition to anything a president of the other party wishes to accomplish. As Rancourt might recall, when President Obama won his first term, the Republicans announced their primary goal was to see he would be a one-term president.

Excuse me, but I thought voters elected people to Congress to work in the best interests of the country, not to sandbag the president.

Still, the country is in much better shape now than when George W. Bush passed the torch. Think how much better it might be if members of the Congress worked together, instead of the way they carry on.

No wonder the present campaigning has turned so hostile.

No, I cannot agree with Mr. Rancourt. I hope the Senate acts in a professional manner, as they should, and bring the Supreme Court to full strength.
