FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Children’s Task Force will host its fifth annual 5K/10K and Kids Fun Run Saturday, April 30, in downtown Farmington.

Proceeds benefit programming that aims to prevent child abuse and neglect before it starts.

Registration and check-in begin at 7:30 a.m. at 113 Church St. Kids Fun Run will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K/10K will begin at 9 a.m.

Participants can register online at www.active.com. Preregistration costs $20 for the 5K; $30 for the 10K. Same-day registration is allowed for an additional $2. Participants may pay by credit card online or by cash or check on the day of the race. Checks can be made out to FCCTF.

The first 50 running registrants will receive free shirts.

For children younger than 12, the Kids Fun Run is free. Children race around the block and all will receive ribbons.

Grandparents may walk with their grandchildren for a fee of $5 per person. FCCTF is offering a special senior and child fee for this year’s Run to Prevent Child Abuse.

All ages are welcome to participate in the 5K/10K, but no pets, skateboards, rollerblades or bicycles are allowed on the course. To keep runners and walkers well-hydrated, the course will provide three water stations.

Preregistration is encouraged.
