CARTHAGE — A local man is accused of possessing thousands of sexually explicit images of young girls on his home computer, according to police.

Nicholas Henry, 31, of Carthage was arrested Monday on a charge of possessing sexually explicit material of someone under the age of 12, according to a news release from Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Henry was arrested after meeting with investigators at the state police barracks in Gray.

Investigators seized Henry’s computer last week from his home at 32 White St. after receiving a tip and found thousands of images of young girls, the release states.

He was transported to the Franklin County jail in Farmington. He was released on $500 cash bail.

Henry is scheduled to appear May 24 in a Farmington court.

Assisting the Computer Crimes Unit was an investigator from the Homeland Security office in Maine.
