1948 – 2016

RUMFORD — Dennis R. Sargent, 68, of South Rumford Road, an accomplished woodcrafter, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 11, at his residence doing what he loved best, working with wood.

He was born in Franklin, N.H., on March 8, 1948, a son of Earl S. and Honora A. (Schlesinger) Sargent.

Dennis was a graduate of Franklin High School and served in the U.S. Army.

He was a millwright having managed and worked at Seth Thomas in Boscawen, N.H., where he designed grandfather clocks. He was also employed as a supervisor at J.A. Thurston in Rumford.

Dennis loved being outdoors working with wood, cross stitching and spending time with family and his cats, Divet, No Bones and Squidor.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Stacie (Souza) Sargent; his children, Gina E. Sargent of Franklin, N.H., Jason E. Sargent of New Hampshire, and Seth D. Sargent and companion, Jodie Rackliff, of Mexico; four brothers, Francis Sargent, Brian Sargent, Kevin Sargent and Shawn Sargent, all of New Hampshire; and one granddaughter, Willow.

He was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Michael and Douglas Sargent.
