NORWAY — The Mountain Poets Society will celebrate National Poetry Month and Earth Day with a reading at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at Tucker’s Music Pub, 290 Main St.

The reading will feature the following poets: Dennis Camire of West Paris, Becky Cheston of Norway, Eric Dibner of Casco, John Governale of Norway, Rockie Graham of Waterford, Michalene Hague of Otisfield, Mary Hargreaves of Sumner, Nadia Hermos of Casco, Lisa Moore of Harrison and Mark Swiedom of Hebron.

Al Mallory, owner of Tucker’s, promises to share some original work as well as a poem or two written by his mother.

This event is part of a weeklong celebration of Earth Day in Norway that includes a concert by Heather Pierson and friends Sunday, April 17; a mask-making workshop from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, April 22, at the Fare Share Commons; and a showing of the film “Catching the Sun” at 7 p.m. Friday, April 22, at the Commons. The week culminates with a parade and rally at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 23, beginning at the Town Square and proceeding to the Alan Day Community Garden. Here there will be food, games and music.

The Mountain Poets Society is a collection of poets and poetry-lovers who have gathered for more than 20 years. Currently, the group meets on the second Sunday of each month at 4 p.m. at 44 Beal St. Members read original poems aloud for general discussion and appreciation. Meetings are open to everyone.
