GREENE —
, 91, a longtime resident of Greene, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, April 9, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Biddeford on Aug. 25, 1924, the son of Raphael M. Beckey and Ida (Pettengill) Beckey Thomas. He graduated from Leavitt Institute. He married the love of his life, Pauline Footman, on Aug. 22, 1949, in Greene.
Bob served in the navy during World War II. He was a hardworking, honest man who would help anyone. He worked at many jobs, becoming a jack-of-all-trades before becoming a master plumber. He was a member of the Pipefitter and Plumbers Union Local No. 716.
He loved gardening, boating, making maple syrup, snowmobiling, working around the house and processing wood, his sawmill and especially taking care of his wife and family.
Bob was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved having get-togethers with family and friends.
He is survived by children, Sandy Arthur and her husband, Pat, Timothy Beckey and Angela Beckey; daughter-in-law, Bobbie Beckey, all of Greene; nine grandchildren, Nick, Missy, Natalie, Amanda, Jon, Valarie, Matthew, Vanessa and Andrea; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Merlene Greenwood of Buckfield and Gloria Dinsmore and husband, Roger, of South Portland; sisters-in-law, Sharon Ray of Greene, Ruby Austin and her husband, Horton, of Wales; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Pauline; and his son, Ralph Peter Beckey.
The family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, his nurse, Cindy, and a special thank-you to Barbara for her loving care and support of Bob and his family.
