1934 – 2016

GARDINER — Donna M. (Voter) Sproul, 81, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed peacefully from this Earth into the loving arms of her wonderful Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 14. She had remained in her home, with help from MaineGeneral Hospice and relatives, friends and neighbors, who surrounded her with loving care until she could rejoin her beloved husband, Bob, in heaven.

Donna was born in Dixfield on  Sept. 14, 1934, the daughter of Willard and Jennie (Newell) Stone. She did work outside the home at Diamond Match in Peru, but most of all she enjoyed being a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother and witnessing to her faith in Jesus throughout her lifetime. She loved everyone and lived her life with much joy. She corresponded with her brother and many friends daily. She loved to cook, entertain, travel and go to Christian events and concerts.

She was an active member of Gardiner Church of the Nazarene for the last 37 years of her life. Before that, she was a member of Dixfield Church of the Nazarene. She read her Bible daily and loved singing hymns. She also was a volunteer for more than 30 years at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Long Term Care at Gray Birch, in Augusta.

She is survived by her children, Douglas Voter and his wife, Lisa, of Weld, and Dennis Voter and Wendy of South Portland; stepchildren, Suzanne Larrabee and husband, Bruce, of Augusta, Judy Magee of Augusta, Ruby Whitmore of Whitefield, Robert J. Sproul Jr. of Lewiston, and Patricia Christopher of Auburn; her brothers, Alton Stone of Dixfield, Frank Stone and wife, Debra, of Livermore, and Fred Stone and wife, Doris, of Rumford; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donna was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Sproul Sr.; brother, Arthur Stone; her step-grandchildren, Brian Tourtelotte and Heidi Magee; and her ex-husband, Ronald Voter.
