LEWISTON — Three art educators were honored for their service to the profession April 9 by the Maine Art Education Association at Olin Arts Center at Bates College.

Carolyn Brown presented the Middle Level Educator of the Year award to her colleague Kristen Anderson, a teacher at Camden-Rockport Middle School.

Anderson spoke about her 17 years of teaching experience and involving the entire school in large-scale art projects.

“When you break down the walls of your art room, it skyrockets your program,” she said.

Suzanne Goulet presented this year’s Secondary Educator of the Year award to Heidi O’Donnell, a national board-certified teacher at Belfast Area High School. O’Donnell is past president of the art association.

Scott Norman, a senior at Waterville Senior High School and studio art leader, presented the 2017 Maine Art Educator of the Year award to his teacher and mentor Suzanne Goulet. Goulet has been a teacher at Waterville Senior High School for 26 years and has demonstrated a commitment to art education at both the state and national levels.
