BATH — Maine humorist Tim Sample will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 29, at Chocolate Church Arts Center, 804 Washington St.

Sample was a pioneer in propelling Downeast humor into the mainstream by a series of recordings. His first album was recorded in 1979 with liner notes written by humorist Marshall Dodge, who would later collaborate with Sample on the 1981 recording “Sample and Dodge,” portions of which were recorded at the Chocolate Church 35 years ago.

Sample’s style has been entertaining people worldwide with Maine humor and Yankee storytelling in the tradition of “Bert and I.” His career of comedic storytelling also includes producing more than 100 “Postcards from Maine” segments about the lifestyles of Mainers for CBS News Sunday Morning.

Tickets cost $35 for VIP seating and include a reception and autographed CD; advance seating costs $20. Tickets cost $24 at the door. They are available by calling the box office at 207-442-8455 or at www.chocolatechurcharts.org.
