Fire officials said the couple was home at about 11 a.m. when their mobile home went up in flames. They didn’t realize it was on fire, officials said.
A daughter who lives nearby noticed the fire and rushed over to alert her parents and help them escape.
The home was demolished.
Investigators said an electrical problem appeared to have caused the fire. There were no working smoke detectors in the home, officials said.
Mechanic Falls firefighters were in short supply when the call came in, a fire official said. They called for help from at least eight towns, including Mechanic Falls, Poland, Minot, Hebron, Oxford, Paris, Norway and Auburn.
No one was injured.
