JEFFERSON — Nine members of the Epona Pony Club participated the the Northeast Regional Pony Club Quiz Rally on April 9 in Jefferson. Epona had three teams that competed this year. The Junior D and Senior D Teams achieved third place, while the C Team placed 1st. Katie Philbrick was named C High Point Champion, while Emma Sawyer was named C High Point Reserve Champion. Maddie Hurley was named Junior D Reserve Champion.
Quiz Rally is a non-riding team competition where Pony Club members show their knowledge and skills of topics related to the Pony Club Standards of Proficiency, including horse management expertise, rally competition rules, knowledge of horse sports (dressage, eventing, games, polocrosse, show jumping and Tetrathlon) and also knowledge of additional resource activities (foxhunting, polo, vaulting, and distance riding) and safety.
