AUGUSTA — Maddie Thistlewaite ripped a double to left field in the ninth inning to plate Taylor Depot and give Edward Little a 6-5 softball victory over Cony on Wednesday. 

Jordyn Reynolds tied the contest at 4-4 for the Eddies when she drove Emmy Lashua across the plate in the seventh frame. 

Sarah Hammond had 11 strikeouts and gave up eight hits for Edward Little, while reliever Cati Hopkins suffered the loss.

Oxford Hills 17, Brunswick 5

PARIS — Erika Whitman scattered four hits and drew ample run support as Oxford Hills overpowered Brunswick 17-5 in a softball tilt Wednesday. 

Kenzie Kahkonen led a group of five players with multiple hits for Cindy Goddard’s Vikings (2-2), which include Madison Starbird, Anna Piiranen, Whitman herself and Kaisa Heikkinen.

Shea Sullivan went the distance for Brunswick, giving up 15 hits in the contest. 

Mt. Blue 10, Hampden 8

FARMINGTON — Taylor Burke drove in four runs, while Lauren Guppy scored three runs as Mt. Blue rolled to a 10-8 victory over Hampden. 

The Cougars had multiple hits from Guppy, Olivia Ryan and Kasadie Barker.

Hampden received key hits from Abby Lord, Julia Sicard, Makayla Leland, Emily Dysart and Brooklyn Scott.  

Dirigo 13, Mt. Abram 1

DIXFIELD — Katelyn Olsen scattered three hits and drew ample run support as Dirigo outgunned Mt. Abram 13-1 in softball action Wednesday. 

Emma Lueders led the Cougars with one hit and three RBIs, while Brittany Greig drove in one run on three hits. Summer Bradbury also contributed with two hits and one RBI in a well-balanced effort.

Alora Ross and Emma Berube led the Roadrunners with one hit each, while starter Summer Ross was tagged with the loss.  

Oak Hill 15, Wiscasset 0

WISCASSET — Oak Hill used seven hits and Makayla Nadeau was the winning pitcher as Oak Hill Walloped Wiscasset 15-0 in a softball game Wednesday.

Grace Sabine went 2-for-3 and Brooke Surette also had two hits and three RBIs.

Oak Hill used a handful of walks and three hit batters to bring home the runs.

Mountain Valley 11, Lisbon 1

RUMFORD — Junior pitcher Emily Laubauskas had two hits, three runs, three stolen bases, and fanned 11 as Mountain Valley cruised to an 11-1 victory over Lisbon in softball action Wednesday afternoon.

The third baseman, Sydney Petrie contributed a home run and a single for the Falcons (2-0).

The catcher, Jasmine Le singled in the only Greyhound (1-1) run in the fifth inning.

Leavitt 16, Nokomis 4

NEWPORT — Junior pitcher Abby Robertson fanned nine and walked just two as Leavitt finally found their bats and jettisoned Nokomis 16-4 in softball action Wednesday afternoon.

The Hornets (3-1) turned up the temperature in an eight-run fifth inning, and scored seven more over the next two frames. Delanie Strout contributed a single and two RBIs for Leavitt.

Sophomore shortstop Aren Herrick provided the Warriors (2-2) a single and two RBIs.

St. Dom’s 17, Boothbay 9

AUBURN — Junior catcher Rhiannon Hersey launched a grand slam and had a pair of singles to power St. Dom’s to a 17-9 victory over Boothbay in softball action Wednesday afternoon.

Janelle Bryant pitched a complete game for the Saints, and fanned five batters along the way.

Sophomore ReAnna Heino had a pair of hits for the Seahhawks in the losing effort.

Edward Little 12, Cony 2

AUGUSTA — Damien St. Pierre scattered five hits and drew ample run support as Edward Little hustled to a 12-2 victory over Cony in an early-season boys’ lacrosse tilt on Wednesday. 

Austin Cox led the Red Eddies (4-0) with three hits and two RBIs, while Jarod Plourde belted out two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Drew Lashua also contributed with two hits in the contest. 

The Rams (1-3) were paced by Taylor Heath with two hits, while starter Riley Boivin suffered the loss.

Dirigo 14, Mt. Abram 3

SALEM — A seven-run third inning opened up the game for the Dirigo Cougars in a 14-3 win over the Mt. Abram Roadrunners in five innings in MVC baseball action.

Starting pitcher Cam Turner, who went the first three innings for Dirigo (2-1),  had a two-run triple, while Bryan Whittemore also tripled. Gavin Arsenault had a two-run double. Cooper Chiasson also had a double, while Luke Leuders was the only Cougar to have multiple hits as he had two singles.

Mt. Abram starter Shawn Allen led the Roadrunners (0-3) offensively as he had two hits including a double. Hunter York also had a two bagger.

Monmouth 19, Telstar 3

MONMOUTH — Senior pitcher Chandler Harris shined on the mound and at the plate as Monmouth dashed to a 19-3 rout over Telstar in baseball action Wednesday afternoon.

Harris had a two-run home run to cap off the Mustangs’ (3-0) scoring in an 11-run second inning. Senior left fielder Nick Sanborn contributed four hits in the 13-hit slugfest.

Fabian Corriveau singled in the first run of the game for the Rebels (1-2).

Leavitt 11, Nokomis 5

NEWPORT — Leavitt broke open a close game with a six-run, sixth inning to capture an 11-5 contest over Nokomis in baseball action Wednesday.

Leading 5-2 after five innings, the Hornets batted around the order to pull away from the Warriors. Julian Kirouac, Chad Morin and Tim Albert all had extra base hits for Leavitt.

Nokomis was led by Nick Allen, who went 4-for-4, including a triple.

Boys’ lacrosse

Mt. Blue 8, Lawrence 7

FAIRFIELD — Reid Wells netted a hat trick and dished off three assists to lead Mt. Blue to a narrow 8-7 victory over Lawrence in a boys’ lacrosse tilt Wednesday. 

Connor Rouilliard and Joe Bowering chipped in for the Cougars (1-1) with two goals apiece, while Cordell Ellis also tallied to complete the scoring. Connor Martin led the Bulldogs (0-2) with three goals and one assist, while Gunner McAllister tallied two goals and Justin Meservier added one. 

Alex Gilbert made 19 saves for Mt. Blue, while Aiden Strickland turned aside 14 shots for Lawrence. 

Gardiner 16, Oak Hill 1

GARDINER — Tristan Herbert and Nate Phillis booted three goals each as Gardiner vanquished Oak Hill 16-1 in boys’ lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon.

The Tigers led 8-1 at the midpoint.

Sam Woodard was busy on defense for the Raiders.
