A national survey ranks U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King as two of the nation’s most popular senators.
Collins, a Republican, came in second to U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders — an independent from Vermont and candidate for the Democratic nominee for president — in Morning Consult’s ranking of the most and least popular U.S. senators in America.
King, an independent, was ranked fourth.
The rankings are based upon surveys of each state’s voters. According to the survey, Collins had a 79 percent approval rating, and King had a 74 percent approval rating.
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell came in last because 49 percent of Kentuckians surveyed said they didn’t have a favorable impression of him.
