Edward Little 13, Skowhegan 2

AUBURN — Senior catcher Drew Lashua drove in five runs as Edward Little dispatched Skowhegan 13-2 in baseball action Friday afternoon.

The Red Eddies (5-0) went on a 10-run tear in the third inning, leading to a mercy-rule conclusion in the fifth. Tyler Blanchard and Jarod Plourde crossed the plate three times each for Edward Little.

Center fielder Brendan Curran had two hits, including a double, an RBI and scored a run for the Indians (3-2). Brandon Varney notched his third pitching win of the season for EL.

Madison 9, Mountain Valley 3

RUMFORD — Madison pushed four runs across the plate in the fifth frame and went on to record a 9-3 MVC baseball victory over a young Mountain Valley baseball squad on Friday.

Chase Malloy led the undefeated Bulldogs (4-0) with three hits and three RBIs, while Sean Whalen, Jordan Hadley and Ty Greene all belted out two hits.

The Falcons (0-4) were paced by Jon Adley and Tim Fitzgerald with two hits apiece, while starter Jacob Beauchesne suffered the loss.

Yarmouth 8, Gray-New Gloucester 5

GRAY — Andrew Kinsman scattered eight hits and drew ample run support as Yarmouth hustled to a 8-5 win over Gray-New Gloucester in more local baseball action Friday.

Joe DeFusco smacked a two-run single in the seventh frame to plate the winning run for Yarmouth. Kinsman also helped his own cause with an RBI double.

The Patriots (2-4) were paced by Dalton Corthell with two hits and three RBIs, while John Henry Villanueva pounded out a pair of hits. Reliever Josiah Rottari suffered the loss after stepping in for Eric Gilbert.

Lisbon 14, Mt. Abram 4

LISBON — Ryley Austin gave up five hits in six innings of work and Lisbon outgunned Mt. Abram 14-4 in more local baseball action Friday afternoon. 

Tyler Halls led the Greyhounds (3-1) with three hits and two RBIs, while Lucas Francis and Cole Bolduc combined for three hits and four RBIs. 

Seth Allen led the Roadrunners (0-3) with one hit and two RBIs. Starter Cody White was tagged with the loss. 

Lewiston 4, Camden Hills 3

CAMDEN — Senior pitcher Austin Wing pitched a complete game win and stroked three hits as Lewiston clipped Camden Hills 4-3 in baseball action Friday afternoon.

Freshman Jack LeBlond contributed two hits and scored a run for the Blue Devils (2-3).

Catcher Kyle Crans provided a big RBI double and tossed out a runner trying to steal second for the Windjammers (1-4).

Softball

Lewiston 19, Camden Hills 0

LEWISTON — Danielle Cyr struck out eight batters in four innings of work and drew ample run support as Lewiston overpowered Camden Hills 19-0 in a Class A North softball tilt Friday. 

Meg Gosselin and Emily Mousseau led the Blue Devils (3-2) with three-run home runs, combining for 11 RBIs. Kallie May, Jordan Mynahan, Megan Theriault and Ali Porter also contributed multiple hits.

Emily Long went the distance for Camden Hills, giving up 22 hits in the contest.  

Telstar 3, Carrabec 2

BETHEL — Telstar capitalized on a throwing error to put three runs across the plate during the fourth frame Friday and hung on to edge Carrabec, 3-2, in a hard-fought MVC softball tilt Friday.

Olivia York scattered three hits for the Rebels (3-0) to notch the win, while Tasha Hart scored the game-winning run. Becca Howard and Lisa Gammon also scored for Telstar.

Brie Dunphy and Meg Ouellette led the Cobras (1-3) with two hits each, while Sam LeBeau suffered the loss.  

Edward Little 6, Skowhegan 4

AUBURN — Edward Little pushed four runs across the plate in the third frame and hustled to record a 6-4 victory over Skowhegan in a Class A South softball tilt Friday. 

Jordyn Reynolds led the undefeated Red Eddies (5-0) with three hits, while Emmy Lashua belted out a pair of hits. 

The Indians (2-3) received two hits from Sydney Ames, including an RBI double in the third. 

Poland 14, Lake Region 5

POLAND — Junior shortstop Sarah Walton smashed three triples to lead Poland to a 14-5 victory over Lake Region in softball action Friday afternoon.

The Knights (1-3) jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first inning. Tori Tibbetts contributed a double and a triple while providing two innings of relief for Poland.

Dessi Berry had an RBI single for the Lakers.

Girls’ lacrosse

Oceanside 6, Edward Little 3

THOMASTON — Elise Lacasse and Jillian Brooks scored a pair of goals each as Oceanside collected a 6-3 triumph over Edward Little in girls’ lacrosse action Friday afternoon.

The Red Eddies (0-1) took a 3-1 halftime lead. Senior midfielder Francesca-Beth Haines collected two goals in the first half for Edward Little.

The Mariners (1-1) turned up the tempo and scored five unanswered goals in the second half.

Goalie Mariah Vaillancourt made 21 stops in net for Edward Little.
