LEWISTON — Gov. Paul LePage is welcoming a new family member.
The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society posted a picture on Facebook Tuesday, saying the governor adopted a new “first” dog and named it Veto. The rescue dog is a two-year-old Jack Russell terrier mix.
According to a spokesman for LePage, the dog is named Veto because “he is the mascot of good public policy, defender of the Maine people and protector of hard-working taxpayers from bad legislation.”
This comes after the death of LePage’s Jack Russell terrier, Baxter, late last month.
