LISBON — Moxie lovers — and those waiting to become Moxie lovers — are invited to attend the 34th Annual Moxie Festival in Lisbon Falls July 8 to 10.

Since 1982, the Moxie Festival is known as Lisbon’s signature event, drawing people from Maine, across the United States and abroad.

The winner of this year’s theme contest is Michelle King, for the 2016 festival theme, “Moxie: It’s Out of This World.”

The winner of the 6th Annual Moxie Festival Logo Contest is Lisbon High School senior Kaylan Pacheco.

Pacheco, 17, is the daughter of Jamie Pacheco and Scott Lane.

After graduation, Pacheco plans to attend the Radiology Program at Southern Maine Community College. Kaylan became involved with the logo contest when her art teacher, Pamela Ouellette, presented the contest as an assignment.

“I gave my design a lot of thought and when I think of ‘out of this world,’ I think of space, planets and astronauts,” Kaylan said. “I drew an astronaut holding a bottle of Moxie with his rocket ship and the planets in the background.”

Kaylan received a $100 check and the first 2016 Moxie Festival T-shirt featuring her design at a high school assembly held April 13.

Floats for the Moxie Festival Parade will be presented on Saturday, July 9. Entries will be judged based on their interpretation of the theme, “Moxie: It’s Out of This World.”

The Moxie Festival parade starts at 10 a.m. at Capital Avenue, travels down Route 196 and up Main Street before concluding at North and South streets.

T-shirts and other Moxie Festival gear will be available for sale throughout the weekend. Festival T-shirts may also be purchased prior to the festival at the Lisbon Town Office. T-shirts should be ready to purchase in May.

According to Lisbon Public Safety officials, over the course of the three days, there can be an estimated attendance of up to 50,000.
