SCARBOROUGH — Hannaford Supermarkets is recalling SunOpta sunflower kernel products because they may be contaminated with listeria.

Hannaford is alerting customers that SunOpta, a producer of organic and specialty foods, has voluntarily recalled nationwide certain sunflower kernel products produced at the company’s Minnesota production facility because the items may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Hannaford carried one of these recalled items: roasted and salted sunflower seeds, sold as an unpackaged bulk item in the Produce Department.

Customers who purchased this product should not consume it and may return the item for a full refund.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with this SunOpta recall, and the affected product has been removed from stores.
