BRUNSWICK — Brady Cusson scattered five hits in seven innings of work Tuesday as Lewiston hustled to a 5-2 mid-season win over Brunswick in a Class A South baseball tilt. 

Catcher Brock Belanger led the Blue Devils (3-3) with two hits including a double, while Brunswick starter Alex Larson suffered the loss.  

Spruce Mountain 3, Mount View 0

LIVERMORE FALLS — Nate Goodine smacked a two-run single in the six inning to lead Spruce Mountain to a 3-0 victory over Mount View in a baseball matchup Tuesday. 

After two scoreless frames, the Phoenix (2-3) finally built a 1-0 advantage in the third. Austin Gilbeau scattered three hits in seven innings to notch the mound win. 

Mickey Hustus went the distance for Mount View and was tagged with the loss.

Madison 3, Dirigo 2

MADISON — Madison pitching kept Dirigo off balance in a 3-2 tilt in baseball action Tuesday afternoon.

The Cougars (3-2) left four stranded on third base in a close contest. Sophomore designated hitter Chase Thebarge rang up a pair of singles for Dirigo.

Senior catcher Ryan Emery doubled home Evan Bess in the third inning for the eventual game winning run. Leading 3-0 after three, the Bulldogs (5-0) held Dirigo to just two runs in the fourth frame in the winning effort.

Boys’ lacrosse

Lewiston 12, Gardiner 5

LEWISTON — Jaiden Wilson netted four goals and earned three assists to lead Lewiston to a 12-5 victory over Gardiner in boys’ lacrosse action Tuesday. 

Alex Rivet chipped in for the Blue Devils with two goals and an assist, while single tallies by Brandon Croteau, Mohamed Khalid, Garrett Pushard, Nick Tilley and Darius Phillips completed the scoring. 

Brian Waggs made 18 saves for Lewiston to notch the win. 

Mt. Blue 7, Erskine 6

FARMINGTON — Reid Wells netted a hat trick Tuesday to lead Mt. Blue to a narrow 7-6 victory over Erskine in a hard-fought boys’ lacrosse tilt. 

Liam Welch and Joe Bowering chipped in for the Cougars (2-2) with two goals each, while Will Gunther added an assist.

Josh Reed led Erskine (0-6) with four goals in the contest, while Caleb Tyler and Grayson Petty also tallied. 

Alex Gilbert made 13 saves for Mt. Blue, while Jake Peavey turned aside 17 shots for Erskine. 

Girls’ lacrosse

Lewiston 7, Gardiner 5

LEWISTON — Senior attacker Kristina Blais collected four hits as Lewiston scooped up a 7-5 victory over Gardiner in girls’ lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon.

The Blue Devils (3-0) led 4-2 at the half. Morgan Eliasen and Alasia Branche had outstanding outings on defense for Lewiston.

Attacker Hailee Lovely notched a pair of goals for Gardiner.

Softball

Telstar 15, Mt. Abram 0

BETHEL — Senior short stop Becca Howard smashed a three-run double as Telstar blanked Mt. Abram 15-0 in five innings of softball action Tuesday afternoon.

The Rebels (4-0) took advantage of seven walks and a hit batsman in the three-hit first inning to collect 12 runs. Mt. Abram pitching had a difficult time finding the strike zone early.

Junior left fielder Megan Marble had one of the Roadrunner’s (0-4) two hits in the losing effort.

Buckfield 13, Temple Academy 0

BUCKFIELD — Abby Shields hit a two-run double and Hannah Shields smacked a two-run triple as Buckfield rolled over Temple Academy 13-0 in a softball game Tuesday.

The Bucks (5-2) used 12 hits to their advantage and winning pitcher Julie Dow struck out eight batters and threw a two-hitter

Kalie Litchfield and Ashley Campbell each had three hits. Brianna Damon belted two singles.

Oak Hill 23, St. Dom’s 0

WALES — Jamie Prue hammered out two triples and earned six RBIs, helping steer Oak Hill (4-1) to a 23-0 victory over St. Dom’s Tuesday.

The Raiders erupted with 11 runs in the second inning. Brooke Surette hit a two-run homer.

Oak Hill had 15 hits for the day and capitalized on 10 errors for St. Dom’s.
