New England Celtic Arts in collaboration with Music New Brunswick will present bluegrass/folk duo Tomato/tomato on CD release tour of “I go Where You Go” at One Longfellow Square in Portland on Tuesday, May 24; and at North Church Concerts with the Farmington Historical Society in Farmington on Wednesday, May 25. Curtain times are 7 p.m. at both locations. A jam session and pie social will begin at 6 p.m. in Farmington. Tickets are $15 at either location.

New England Celtic Arts has been working with Music New Brunswick’s director Jean Surette and the Maine Arts Commission’s Kerstin Gilg on a cross-cultural effort over the past five years to facilitate an exchange of artists between the neighboring regions. Tomato/tomato has been selected this year to represent the continuing series on the New Brunswick side. Several Maine artists will be heading to St John New Brunswick in September to participate in showcasing events held by the Atlantic Presenters Association.

Led by the album’s first single “Ain’t Dead Yet”, “I Go Where You Go” builds on their signature blend of high energy foot-stompers and traditional folk. Husband and wife duo, John and Lisa McLaggan, opted for a live approach for the disc, bringing some of Atlantic Canada’s top bluegrass players into the studio for a foot- stomping session that jumps from the speakers. Layered with memorable melodies, gorgeous harmonies, and Lisa’s unique washboard/bass drum/tin can setup, the new album shines from start to finish. John’s stellar guitar work provides the foundation for the unique sound they are known for.
