LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women has announced its June programming. All morning programs are from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Fashion Show: Thursday, June 2. Members of Sophia’s Circle will provide fashion show open to all.

Safe Voices Walk/Run: 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 4, at Bates College, 2 Andrews Ave. The Center for Women’s Women will have a table there as well, with gratitude beads and wisdom boxes for sale.

Book Making: Wednesday, June 8. Sarah Shepley will facilitate book-making with creative and beautiful artful hand made paper.

Peasant Pantry Café: 11:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 9. The Peasant Pantry Café features one-pot sustainable meals from different countries. This month, the dish will be vegetable curry. The meal is open to the public at no charge, and donations are welcome.

Silent Retreat: Saturday, June 11. This is a day of quiet reflection, or any activity in silence to bring in the Summer equinox. A light lunch will be provided.

Flag Day: Tuesday, June 14. This is a day to honor the nation’s flag, it’s origin, and meaning.

Viking Women: Thursday, June 10. Dee DeCosta will share information about Vikings and specifically Viking Women and their place in Viking society.

Kitchen Apron Craft: Tuesday, June 12. Vicki will provide instruction to make kitchen aprons from pillow cases. Participants should bring an old pillow case.

Maps: Thursday, June 23. Participants may find their home on a map of L/A, and learn about maps of the world.

Bingo: Tuesday, June 28.

Reiki: 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 28. Sign-up are required for a free 15-minute Reiki session.

Art Van: Wednesday, June 29.

June Birthday Celebration: Noon Wednesday, June 29. June birthdays will be celebrated.

Clothing giveaway: Thursday, June 30. The center will hold a clothing give-away during a day-long event.

The center’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and is closed on Fridays through August 31.

All women are welcome; programs are offered free and no appointments are needed. Oatmeal breakfasts are available daily, and the center has a shower.

The Center is also seeking volunteer applicants for companions. The companion role requires women to have a professional background in social work, teaching, nursing, chaplaincy or other related fields, and companions work with local women. The commitment is a half-day weekly. Those interested should contact Executive Director Klara Tammany at 207-513-3922.
