WESTON— An investigation is underway after a pilot of a small plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Brackett Lake.

Authorities say Greg Lizotte of Houlton was flying his Cessna 172 around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday when it lost engine power, forcing Lizotte to land in the Weston lake.

Police say Lizotte was able to exit the plane safely and swim to shore.

The state Department of Environmental Protection, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating and preparing to remove the plane from the lake.
