1937 – 2016
NAPLES, Fla. — Daniel C. McDonald II, of Naples, Fla., died Monday, May 30, after a long illness.
He was born in Portland on Nov. 28, 1937, to the late attorney, Daniel C. McDonald Sr. and his wife, Mary Louise McDonald.
Dan attended Portland schools and was a graduate of Proctor Academy in Andover, N.H., and the University of Maine at Orono. His professional career commenced in 1962 as the Rumford branch manager of Casco Bank Trust Co. In 1971, Dan was appointed Rumford town manager, and in 1978, he became the Kennebunkport town manager.
He was a member of many civic and fraternal organizations, including Ancient Landmark Masonic Lodge in Portland; and Kora Shrine Temple in Lewiston where he took part in the Renegade Cart Unit. Dan was past president of Oxford County, Maine, Shrine Club; life member and past exalted ruler of the Rumford Lodge of Elks; past president of Rumford Rotary Club; director and treasurer of Rumford Hospital; and life member and senior deacon at Woodfords Congregational Church in Portland.
Dan moved to Naples, Fla., in 1985, where he worked with Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co., the state of Florida Department of Children and Families as food stamp issuance supervisor and Lowe’s home improvement store as credit coordinator.
Dan is survived by his sister, Sara Jane Elliot of South Portland; three nieces and a nephew and their children.
