1937 – 2016

AUBURN — Raymond “Ray” Gerard Cote, 78, rejoined his beloved wife, Laurice Cote, on Thursday, June 2, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn after a courageous battle with cancer and his loving family at his side.

He was born in Lewiston on Sept. 11, 1937, the son of Etienne and Eva Cote. He was educated in Lewiston schools. He married the love of his life, Laurice Mae (Arnold) on Aug. 18, 1967. He was employed as a truck driver and later with Mason Seal.

Ray was a wonderful father, father-in-law, husband, brother, uncle and grandfather (Popo) to all his family, as well as a loyal friend to many. A veteran of the Korean war, he served his country honorably and his family with great devotion and loyalty. He always had a quick smile, a great laugh and kind words for all he cared for. He had an endearing habit of giving each of his treasured family members and favorite friends unique nicknames. He loved to hide candy and treats for his grandchildren under his couch and each knew where to look. He truly preferred to give than receive. He was strong-willed and did everything on his own terms. He enjoyed woodworking, Western movies and television shows, dancing, country music and most especially, spending time with his family and friends.

He was grateful for the tender and sincere care he received from Beacon Hospice, Androscoggin Hospice, family, friends and volunteers. His life was full, happy and he will forever be in our hearts.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Lisa, and her husband, Chris McGuire; devoted son, John Morin and wife, Jody; son, Michael; brothers, Marcel and wife, Ann-Marie, George and wife, Jane Cote; sister, Florence Glenn; son-in-law, Michael Dube; grandchildren, Ryan, Kaitlin, Logan, Monica, Laurie, Nicole, Jacqueline, Amanda and Tony; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Etienne and Eva Cote; wife, Laurice; daughter, Lindy; son, Ray; brothers, Reggie and Robert; sisters, Regina, Sylvia, Rose and Jean; grandson, Justin.

Fly high with the angels, Ray, in your new body you asked for and rest in peace.
