Has it ever occurred to law enforcement, lawmakers, or the Maine Department of Transportation, that enough is enough with distracted drivers doing everything in their vehicles except staying to the right of the center line while driving?

Just today, my wife and I witnessed three vehicles crossing the center line in just a 10-mile drive, and one was nearly half over the center line coming at us (my reason for writing).

I will probably read in tomorrow’s paper about some dummy crossing the center line and taking out an innocent family.

I have a suggestion for the M.D.O.T. officials: How about a nice wide rumble strip down the center line of all Maine roads? I know what they are going to say: “Do you know how much that would cost?”

If it saved one life, it would be well worth it — even the dummy’s life.
