I am excited to be voting Tuesday, June 14, in the Democratic primary for Shenna Bellows for senator of District 14 (Chelsea, Farmingdale, Gardiner, Hallowell, Manchester, Monmouth, Pittston, Randolph, Readfield, West Gardiner and Winthrop).

I know, people are down on politics. No wonder, when gridlock in Augusta has prevented Mainers from participating in federally-funded health care and initiatives to create sustainable jobs, such as in renewable energy.

Residents should not let that stop them from voting. Bellows is a breath of fresh air. She understands what families are going through in this tough economy.

From my own time in the Legislature, I have seen first hand how Bellows is a good listener and is able to bring Democrats, Independents and Republicans together.

Her optimism and energy are needed.

I hope others will join me on June 14 and vote for Shenna Bellows for state Senate.

Sharon Treat, Hallowell
