LIVERMORE — Selectpersons on Monday night approved closing the Town Office at noon Thursday, June 30, so staff can close books for this fiscal year.

The request was made by Town Clerk Renda Guild.

Treasurer and Administrative Assistant Amy Byron reported in May that over $50,500 was collected in excise taxes. So far in June, $13,200 has come in, bringing the total to date to $386,500, which is $59,200 more than budgeted.

She said excise taxes are increasing because of the higher cost of new and used vehicles.

Reminder postcards will be sent to residents with unpaid taxes, Byron said.
