To describe my reaction as disappointment that administrators of Mt. Ararat High School would deny a graduate the right to display a U.S. Army sash would understate my feeling. Disgusted would be a better word.

I recently attended commencement exercises at Oxford Hills High School where not only were the graduates enlisting in the Armed Forces acknowledged, they were embraced with the loudest applause given.

It seems that everyone is quick to say “thanks for your service,” but few are willing to make a legitimate sacrifice on behalf of this nation. People should be proud of those so willing and recognize them for their sacrifice, because that is what it is.

I am told that it would have violated a policy at Mt. Ararat set forth by the administration and school board. Talk about being out of touch.

Shame on them.
