Phillips library receives grant
PHILLIPS — The Phillips Public Library has received a grant from the Hugh and Elizabeth Montgomery Charitable Fund of the Maine Community Foundation to develop current extended programs located on the second floor.
Those programs include the thrift store, used book shop and the archive room.
The upstairs thrift store was developed by former employee Anne Hutchens in 2002 to provide fire victims with free clothes and to bring affordable used clothing to the community.
The book sale, an annual event organized by Hugh Montgomery during Old Home Days, was moved into the Paul G. Whittemore building and is now open throughout the summer.
All proceeds benefit the library operations budget.
