1931 – 2016

AUBURN — Fernande A. Vachon, 85, of 100 Campus Ave., Lewiston, died Tuesday, June 21,  at the Hospice House in Auburn.

Born in St. Martin de Roustigouche, N.B., Canada, the daughter of Josepel and Sadie Rancourt Jalbert. She moved to Lewiston at a young age and was educated in local schools. On May 30, 1952, she married Robert A. Vachon. He passed away on April 21, 1974. Fernande worked at Knapp Shoe for many years. After the death of her husband, she worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for 10 years, retiring at age 62. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards with her family and friends at Maison Marcotte, and loved to travel to Las Vegas, Foxwoods, and the Oxford Casino. She was a member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish.

She is survived by a son, David of Auburn; three daughters, Linda Boucher of Lewiston, Joline and husband, Antonio Dumond of Minot, and Pat and husband, Kenneth Foisy, of Lewiston; two brothers, Laurent Jalbert and wife, Blanche, of Plainsville, Conn., and Claude Jalbert and wife, Venise, of Kensington, Conn.; four sisters, Irene Champagne, Alice and husband, Thomas Lufkin, Marie Bolduc, and Marguerite Larochelle, all of Lewiston; seven grandchildren, Brian Boucher and wife, Erin, Kim and husband, Dan Caron, Chris Vachon, Rena Roy, George Foisy, Andrea Dumond, Jessica and husband, Ryan Reid; and five great-grandchildren, Nyllah, Jenna, Ben, Emilia and Parker.

Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters.
